Change the exercises, change the rep range, change the sets, or change the order of the exercises that you complete. All of these will be great ways to push past that plateau.
Assess Your Calorie Intake
Second, another key thing that you must be done if you’re in a weight loss plateau is evaluating your current calorie intake. If you’ve lost a significant amount of weight up to this point, say more than 20 pounds, it could be a matter that your current ‘fat loss calorie intake’ has now become your current maintenance calorie intake.
Since you are at a lower body weight, you have less total body mass to support, therefore require fewer calories per day.
Simply decreasing your calorie intake by about 200 more calories should get fat loss moving again and allow you to break through the plateau.
Consider A Training Break
Finally, the last thing that you may want to consider is taking a training break. If you’ve been at your program for a while, it could just be that the body needs some rest. When we work very hard with a workout and are using a very low calorie diet plan, eventually the body will start fighting us and will cling on to its body fat stores.
Take one week off and relax. Once you get back into it, you’ll likely find that progress starts back up immediately.
